MCIT inaugurates Fiber Optic & Salaam 3G network in Zabul province
Minister of Communications and Information Technology H. E. Amirzai Sangin aiming to inaugurate Afghan Telecom Salaam Network and Fiber Optic project visited Zabul province on Wednesday 27th August 2014.
H. E. Amirzai Sangin and his companion panel were warmly welcomed by the provincial profiles, national elders and people of the Province.
H. E. Sangin thanked the people and official authorities of Zabul for warm welcoming and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this beautiful city of Afghanistan. Minister Sangin briefly highlighted the growth of telecommunications and IT throughout the country and said: the sector of Communications and IT have basic role and to date it has grown considerably in the past ten years. He added there are 20 million telephone subscribers and over two and a half billion dollars investments in the filled of Telecommunications and Information Technology in our country and the large number of populations are provided direct and indirect jobs. He said: annually we deliver over 200 million dollars income to the state treasury. He said: our presence today in Zabul province is officially to inaugurate and put in operation major (Salaam 3G, and Fiber Optic) projects.
He said with the opening of these projects the citizens of Zabul will have access to better IT and Internet services with reasonable price. He also mentioned that Zabul province is connected by National Fiber Optic ring through Kandahar. He said the province will be under close attention of MCIT to be provided better ICT services and population of the province practically enjoy its benefits. H. E. Sangin stated that Salaam Network is government owned provider of Afghan Telecom Company along with providing reasonable service, aims according to the law MCIT cannot directly intervene to determine and rate the price in the market, but through the competition we can improve the quality of service and decrease the prices. In terms of Optical Fiber Network H. E. Amirzai Sangin said that this projects connects the provinces together and Afghanistan to the world. He stated today we are witness connection of Zabul Province to Fiber Optic through which people will have access to international ICT networks.
Then the deputy Governor Mr. Mohammad Jan Rasoolyar, Abdul Qader Qalatwal member of Parliament, commander of police department in Zabul Ghulam Sakhi Roghlewanai and Ghani Khan Tokhi local elder of Zabul province appreciated successes of MCIT and also suggested their problems and proposed the demands of the people, which were accepted by the minister of MCIT.
