The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology submitted its plan about reducing the rates of Dark Fiber, Internet Bandwidth and Satellite (Afghansat1) to the High Economic Council and was approved by the Council at its 26th session in 1397. The price of Dark Fiber has dropped by 20%, which will attract investment by companies in this sector, thereby a better context would be created for positive competition among companies, which will reduce Internet service prices in the country. On the other hand, in order to promote e-government, better use of information technology and effective implementation of government services, 50% discount is considered for the government institutions. Since Afghanistan is a landlocked state and does not have access to submarine internet, provides its Internet from regional countries, the Ministry of Communications’ leadership was able to provide Bandwidth Internet at an affordable price and given to this, the Afghan Telecom has up to 44% discount for its subscribers in the Internet Bandwidth. Additionally, Afghanistan has been providing a satellite (Afghan sat1) service since 2014, and pays 4 million dollars annually to Eutelsat Company, Fortunately, the Ministry's leadership with frequent contacts and discussions managed to reduce the rent from 4 million to 2 million dollars. Currently, three Transponders of Afghan satellite are used in the Afghan Telecom and Education and two other transponders with a total capacity of 108 MHZ will be sold at an appropriate rate of 50 - 60 million dollars to the marketed. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is committed to providing quality telecommunication services at reasonable rate for the citizens of the country and has always been looking into and discussing various options for this purpose.
