MCIT: First Science and Innovation Convention
The first National Convention on Science and Innovation was held by the Science and Innovation Directorate of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.
The leadership body of the MCIT, government and private organizations high ranking officials, a number of university directors and students were participants of the event.
At the meeting, deputy finance and administrative minister of MCIT Dr. Hadi Hedayati said: “in the last one and a half decades The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has not paid much attention to research while research and innovation has a direct impact on public safety.
Dr. Hedayati expressed that: "We are pleased to have many projects and plans underway in the research and development so we can witness the evolution and growth of science and technology in our community."
Also at the meeting, the Minister of State for Human Rights, Mrs. Sima Samar spoke about the importance of science and innovation in the context of growth and changes in life that we need to keep pace with technology.
At the last minutes of the meeting, director of the Department of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Jawed Ahmad Baktash mentioning the significant role of Science and Innovation, highlighted the need for a competition to be launched in science.
He added that the Science and innovation are one of the great needs and aspirations of the Afghan people, but they have not developed as they are needed here.
Through such national conferences we want to encourage young people to bring science and innovation to their lives," he said.
At the end of the program, from among 50 projects from private and public universities the top five technology projects were selected and the best designers were honored by awarding prizes.
