Shahzad Aryobee Minister of Communications and Information Technology started a campaign to collect non-registered and illegal SIM cards Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Whilst receiving thousands of non-registered SIM-cards from various telecom companies, Roshan Telecom’s Deh Afghanan branch was closed due to actual sales of unregistered SIM cards.

Meanwhile, offices of Etisalat, Afghan Wireless and MTN were advised not to sell non-registered SIM cards.

The sale of non-registered SIM cards are not acceptable for any reason and the distribution of SIM cards must be in accordance with the ATRA procedure.

In case of receiving such a deal, Provincial departments are tasked in cooperation with the security authorities and ATRA to close the relevant telecom offices.

It is noteworthy that Since the beginning of the campaign, most of the SIM cards have been hidden by dealers of unlicensed SIM card, but the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is determined to fight against this phenomenon.
