MCIT holds 3rd Meeting of Changing Analog TV to digital TV system

H. E. Amirzai Sangin Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) participated the third meeting of exchanging and sharing views to switch Afghan TV from analog system to digital system along with DG. of ATRA Abdul Wakil Shirgul and staffs, TV channel representatives, which was held on Thursday 7th March 2013 in MCIT Conference hall.

At beginning H. E. Sangin briefly mentioned the achievement of the country in telecommunication sector and Further he said the aim of this meeting is to share ideas and discuss the process of changing Analog TV System to Digital TV System. He highlighted that the changing analog to digital system has great importance and critical social- economic, Technological and broadcasting impacts, with this, the population of Afghanistan particularly residents of remotes areas will have opportunity to watch qualitative television programs and enjoy it and continued it is good and essential to share ideas in this respect.

 Then all participants thanked MCIT’s initiative of consultation and each one of the TV Channel representatives expressed their ideas and viewpoints in turn and spoke about the their experiences and qualities of the programs, also they mentioned challenges they face.  Some of the TV representatives suggested that this process should be arbitrary and optional not compulsory, and it was also suggested that the time of its implementation must change from                      five in two years. In order the process to be successful participants agreed the meetings should be taken in the future as well.
