Acting and Nominated Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Ms. Masooma Khavari attended and spoke at the opening ceremony of the Telecommunication Network Distributors Union on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
The event was also attended by some cabinet members, members of the National Assembly, and representatives of telecommunications companies. In her speech, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, while congratulating founders of the Association on the occasion of the establishment of this union, described this action as good news for telecommunication companies and in the entire telecommunication and information technology sector.
She expressed hope that the establishment of this union On the one hand, creates fair competition, more order and coordination in the market, and on the other hand, it attracts investment, job creation opportunities and ultimately increases revenue and causes the country's economic growth in this sector.
Ms. Khawari added that these investments, in addition to improving services, would bring significant annual incomes to the government treasury.
She stated that Afghan Telecom Company with three million subscribers and investment has paid eighty-two million dollars to the government treasury account from 1398 to the second quarter of 1399, which has played an important role in the growth of the country's economy. Further, she said that the renovation and modernization of telecommunication sites have a direct link to improving the quality of telecommunication and Internet services. Afghan Telecom / Salam Telecommunication Company has taken steps in this regard and using this opportunity. We expect other telecommunication companies in the country to take action for this purpose.
Then the head of this union, lawyer Parween Durrani, said that the purpose of establishing this union is economic development, creating employment opportunities in the telecommunication market, drawing government support from the private sector and creating coordination between the telecommunication sectors.
