Ministry of Communications & IT Determines Istanbul Transit Center

Istanbul Transit Center for transferring air mail exportation was determined within a press conference, which was held on Sunday 17 October 2013 at Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Conference Room.

The conference was attended by Deputy Minister Admin& Finance of MCIT Mr. Wahabuddin Sadaat, board of directors of MCIT, and mass media representatives.   

Honorable deputy Minister Wahabuddin Sadaat said: this is the place of pleasure that MCIT alongside its other achievements now take another step towards the field of quality, process and transfer of post items. He added: according an agreement between Post Directorate of MCIT and Turkey recently Transit Center in Istanbul is established as an International airmail transit route for exportable and importable products and items to European and American countries, the Center has already started to work. 

Mr. Sadaat said: undoubtable the Center’s activities improve the quality of postal services and accelerates the process of transition to America and Europe. He mentioned that: before, such transfers were made through Pakistan Post Offices and it toke 20 days to American and 10 – 15 days to European countries. But now such transfer are done via Istanbul Offices in Turkey and items and postal Parcels from Afghanistan to Europe and America take 2 – 5 days. This trend is consistent with the Universal Union Standards. He continued that the Post sector has not have considerable growth over the past few years, and hence we have tried to develop this sector in our country, which will increase investment and create employment opportunities to citizens. Deputy Minister said: the main part of government revenue over the next five years must be obtained from the post sector, as the revenue of MCIT’s Post Department has risen to 15% over the past six months.
