MCIT Inaugurates the Administrative Building of Khinj and the Post Office of Onaba Districts of Punjshir Province

On November 2, 2010, Eng. A. Sangin, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, other MCIT delegates, including

Ghulam Jelani Waziri Director of the Minister’s office, Moh Yasin Rahmati Director of Post, Gul Ahmad Rastman Director of Afghan Telecom and other officials visited Punjshir Province for official inauguration ceremonies for the Administrative Building and Post Office of Onaba Districts of Punjshir Province.
Upon the senior governmental delegation’s arrival in Punjshir Province, they were warmly welcomed by the Governor, the Elders of several Districts, Dignitaries and Members of the Provincial Council.
At the beginning of the ceremony, after the recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran, General Keramuddin Keram, Governor of Punjshir Province in a welcoming speech thanked HE. Amirzai Sangin for his consistent support for providing ICT services in Punjshir Province and iterated that he hoped other Ministers and Senior Delegates would also visit Punjshir Province and provide the necessary services.
Afterward, H.E. Eng. Amirzai Sangin, said: I am happy to travel to beautiful Punjshir, and I am happy that Punjshir came under coverage of communication services. He also stated that he admired the Mujahid people of Punjshir and the late Ahmad Shah Masood. He further added that it is a matter of happiness that 58% of people of Afghanistan came under coverage of communication services now that 3700 towers have been installed throughout the country to serve 14.2 million people with mobile phones who paid $129 million dollars to the communication sector in 2009. Currently, Afghanistan is connected with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizstan, and Pakistan by Optical Fiber Cable (OFC). Likewise, Bykundi is a new Province in which all the Districts of that Province now have communication services coverage.
Then, the PRT Director of Pujshir Province spoke and thanked H.E the Minister for visiting Punjshir and expressed his appreciation for the hard work of MCIT. Subsequently, H.E the Minister officially inaugurated the new administrative building as well as distributed the certificates to the employees who recently received computer training. And, after that, H.E the Minister went to Onaba District and inaugurated the Post Office there.
At the end of the ceremony, H.E the Minister was informed that the people of two remote Districts of Punjshir, namely Dara and Prayan, do not have access to communication services. H.E A. Sangin then responded that MCIT recently signed contracts for 67 towers to be installed in 67 remote Districts of Afghanistan, which include the two Districts mentioned.
