MCIT-High Level Delegations Visits to Baku-Azerbaijan
H.E. Minister Eng. Amirzai Sangin, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, High level delegation included Deputy Ministers, General Directors and Directors from Different ministries and government organizations of Afghanistan visited Baku Azerbaijan from 10-15th June 2013. The visit was sponsored by Azerbaijan government and UNDP.
The purpose of this visit was to participate at the workshop ‘studying the experience of Azerbaijan in harnessing potential of e-government” which will be used for development of Afghanistan. During the workshop H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin and the delegation visited several high level government officials of Azerbaijan, particularly H.E. Minister Ali Abbasov from Ministry of Communication and information Technology of Azerbaijan, H.E.Minister Mr Elmar Mammadyarov from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr Antonius Broek from UN Resident Representative of Azerbaijan, and Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
At the beginning H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin Met with H.E.Minister Ali Abbasov, Ministry of Communication and IT.
H.E. Minister Ali Abbasov welcomed the delegation and mentioned that Afghanistan is one of his close friend country and would like to have close and long term relationship with Afghan government particularly in the area of communications and information technology.
He committed financial support to Afghan government from Azerbaijan government through UNDP Kabul. H.E. Minister, Amirzai Sangin appreciated all the support and cooperation of Azerbaijan government and said we are happy to see the fast development of Azerbaijan government particularly in the field of e-government leaded by Ministry of Communication and Information technology Azerbaijan.
H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin explained current statues of ICT /e-government in Afghanistan, particularly electronic ID and fiber optic projects (OFC), He also mentioned that MCIT of Afghanistan is interested to work with the Ministry of Communications and information technology of Azerbaijan which will help in reducing price, in the area of Super Highway Fiber Optic, Satellite, bandwidth on Azersat and GIS.
Minister Amirzai Sangin also called on private companies of Azerbaijan to invest in Afghanistan.
H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin and the Afghan delegation also Met with H.E Ziyafat Asgarov first Deputy speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament.
H.E Ziyafat Asgarov first Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament: welcomed the high level delegation headed by H.E. Minister Mr Amirzai Sangin.
The deputy of Parliament stated that he is happy to have the high level delegation from brother country Afghanistan, and would like to have more cooperation with each other.
He mentioned about past good relations of two brother countries: Azerbaijan and Afghanistan and showed his willingness to work for increased cooperation between the two countries.
H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin, thanked the Azerbaijan’s government on behalf the Afghan government for the opportunity to visit Azerbaijan and for the country and hospitality of the Azerbaijan Government and people .He added that we are happy to see the quick improvement of our brother country Azerbaijan and he wished there more success in future.
Minister Amirzai Sangin during his speech also appreciated the hard work and sacrifices of Azerbaijan troops in Afghanistan
H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin and the Afghan delegation also Met with H.E. Elmar Mammadyarov, Ministr of Foreign Affairs.
H.E. Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, welcomed the delegation, he said Afghanistan embassy in Azerbaijan which is newly opened is first step towards the diplomatic relation between two brother countries which will bring a positive change between two countries particularly in foreign policy and relation. He also mentioned the government of Azerbaijan has plans to open embassy in Afghanistan.
H.E. Minister Amirzai Sangin thanked H.E. Minister Mr Elmar Mammadyarov for his hospitality and other support. Minister Sangin mentioned that this visit will not only improve diplomatic relation but it will also help us to establish privet sector relations. H.E.Minister Mr Sagin also mentioned about scholarship for Afghans to come for higher education to Azerbaijan.
At the end of the visit: H.E Minister Amirzai Sangin Met with Antonius Broek, UN Resident Representative Azerbaijan.
Mr Antonius Broek thanks Amirzai Sangin for his participation in the workshop and leading the delegation.
Mr. Antonius congratulated H.E. Minister for all the great achievement in sector of ICT and e-government in Afghanistan.
Amirzai Sangin thanked UNDP Kabul and Azerbaijan for all the hospitalities .cooperation and preparing the great workshop for afghan high level delegation in Azerbaijan. And hope to have such an event in future.
