MCIT/ ATRA seizes Illegal SIM Cards & Sealed Retail Stores

Supervisory team of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) confiscated banned phone SIM cards and sealed some retail stores, which infringed provisions and procedures. Said Vice Chairman of ATRA Eng. Khair Mohammad Faizi In a press conference, which was held on Tuesday 26 February 2013 in MCIT conference Room. He added according law and provisions of ATRA all communication companies are obliged to observe the process of registration and not to sell out active SIM Cards before registration in streets. Therefore supervisory team in cooperation with law enforcement personnel arrested some retailer and bidders, who had not observed regulation of ATRA and also they caught and seized the SIM Cards and sealed their shops in Pule khishti area of Kabul.

Eng. Faizi said: When a company or a person provides Telecom services and does not apply the procedures of ATRA, are obligated to pay cash fine in accordance with the provision of the Telecom Services Regulation Law. The issue has been referred to the Board of ATRA and any actions are to be taken based on the provisions of the said law.
