MCIT –Launches ICT Newspaper and the Award Ceremony of DEWAE

Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) distributed second term competitive awards of Dewae Program to the winners and opened an ICT Newspaper (Tech Times Afghanistan) as the first ever ICT Newspaper of the country during a press conference on Saturday 13th November 2014 held at MCIT’s Conference Hall.

The objective of the Dewae program is the promoting of an innovation culture through the use of ICT and mobile technology in the country. Said Eng. Baryalay Hassam Acting and deputy (Technical) Minister of MCIT At the beginning of the conference. Eng. Hassam mentioned: that the Dewae program has launched by MCIT in order to address problems and challenges and developing innovative ways for the government to reach its constituents and deliver services to them.


He continued: that through this program MCIT intends to seek the proposals of Afghans to come up with innovative ideas and solutions in the field of Mobile Technology.

Eng. Hassam said: to encourage the concept of innovative thinking MCIT will award monetary prizes from 2000 USD up to 80,000 US dollars to the winner of the competitions.

Eng. Hassam also spoke around the ICT Newspaper (Tech Times Afghanistan) he said: that the Magazine aims to inform and increase awareness of the local companies and outsiders regarding the development in ICT sector and also will increase the exposure of the local ICT firms to their potential customers. He mentioned that the newspaper will be around 12 pages in three languages (Pashto, Dari and English) with 10000 circulation across Afghanistan and all foreign offices.
