Annual MCIT Provincial Directors Coordination Conference

Aiming to have better coordination between central and provincial Directorates of Ministry of Communications & IT (MCIT) and assess common provincial needs and challenges a conference was held at conference room of MCIT on Monday, January 22, 2018. The Participants of the event were Minister of MCIT, Deputy Minsters and Board of Directors of MCIT, provincial directors and authorities of Afghan Telecom, ATRA and mass media representative.

The conference shared views and experiences about the achievements significant advances and challenges in the various departments of the Ministry in 2017.

Firstly, welcoming the participants, minister of MCIT Shahzad Aryobe mentioned some significant achievement of the ministry saying that the adopting full readiness for the distribution of electronic National Identity Cards (Tazkera), creating electronic system of passport through Asaan Khedmat, distribution of passports via the Afghan Post office in ten provinces including Kabul province.

He continued that an increase in Afghan Post revenues, signing agreements with various departments and ministries for better cooperation in the field of electronization, decisive determination to fight corruption, regular planning for the collection of 10% telecom service fees, and the coordination of among the offices were the most important achievements of the ministry in the past year.

 

He also noted, some programs and plans for the future, such as importing fiber optics from China through the Wakhan Corridor, creating a regular plan for the registration of SIM cards, connecting remote schools with tele-education technology, connecting the provincial hospitals to capital (Kabul), already initiated its work which would be implemented at the cost of tens millions of US dollars.

It was also stressed that the provincial directorss to work diligently in accordance with a regular plan, and should not hesitate to try to serve the people.
