National CDMA Licensing
- ATRA has been requested by a licensed local fixed service provider (“LFSP”) that currently provides CDMA services in parts of Northern Afghanistan, to consider issuing that LFSP with a national CDMA license (“National CDMA License”).
- The issuance of a National CDMA License would enable the LFSP to provide CDMA services on a national basis throughout Afghanistan.
- The issuance of a National CDMA License (or licenses) to the LFSP and/or other (i) licensees or (ii) new entrants could also potentially ensure the continued provision of CDMA services to approximately 100,000 CDMA fixed and wireless customers of another licensee that is considering transitioning from a CDMA based customer offering to a GSM platform.
