Mohammad Ashraf Ghani discusses the progress on the electronic national identity project

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, discussed the progress on the electronic national identity project in a meeting with the minister of Communications and Information Technology Shahzad Aryobee and officials of (GTR) Company on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

Initially, the Minister of communications and Information Technology Shahzad Aryobee briefed about the progress and challenges of the project, he added that the great parts of the project have been completed and other parts will be completed by next six months.

He also shared his comments and suggestions on the project, saying that, in this regard a memorandum of understanding will be signed with the e-National Identity Cards Department in the near future.

Then the president of the country Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, called the project a national project, saying that e-Government is one of the main goals and that this project should be completed thoroughly as soon as possible.

In order, the various dimensions of the project to be assessed accurately the country's president issued instructions a committee should set up under the chairmanship of Dr. Senior Advisor to the President on Infrastructure Affairs Mohammad Homayoun Qayomi, with the membership of MCIT, ministry of Finance.

He stressed that, after completing the studies the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has to clearly arrange the report and its proposals and submit them to the Presidency.
