Minister of MCIT participates Digital Development Conference in Kazakhstan

Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) H. E. Abdulrazaq Vahidi heading an official delegation visited Kazakhstan in purpose to participate Digital Development Conference held in Alma Ata the capital city of Kazakhstan from 17 to 18 February 2016. Minister of MCIT was accompanying by Directors of ATRA, Afghan Telecom, presidential advisor on transport and communications, director of Administrative Affairs and  MCIT’s regional connectivity technical members.

To review the development process of information technology, World Bank’s Annual Conference has been held in Center and South Asia, and simultaneously World Bank’s Annual Report titled Digital Dividends will be released. It must be said that this is the first conference in which impacts of digital technology on the lives of citizens in developing countries is evaluated. In other words, fundamental purpose is considering World Bank’s recommendations to share common vision for creating digital transformation and to provide potential opportunities and cooperation amongst the mentioned countries in the frame of digital projects of CASA.

So far, the technical team has discussed the financial and technical assistance of World Bank for implementation regional connectivity and digital development.  In addition, Afghan Technical Teams talked with their counterparts around various aspects of regional connectivity and have signed an agreement of 10 GB internet from Kazakhstan into Afghanistan through Turkmenistan. Of course, the contract will be in force when technical testing procedure between the two countries complete. It must be said that with implementation of these agreements the quality of internet for Afghan subscribers will increase and internet rates will be reduced.

Also, Minister Abdulrazaq Vahidi on Thursday evening on the sidelines of his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan met with a group of Afghan students, especially students who have been studying telecommunications, physics and computer science at various universities of the country in Consulate General of Afghanistan in Alma Ata city. The purpose of the meeting was to talk with students, listen to their problems and to cast light on recent achievements of the MCIT.
