MCIT- signs Memorandum of Understanding of Creating Address System with Kabul Municipality.

In order to create modern address system in Kabul city Ministry of Communications & IT (MCIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kabul Municipality in a press conference, which hold today, Sunday 2nd June -2013 in MCIT’s conference room.

The conference was attended by Minister of Communications and IT H. E. Amirzai Sangin, Kabul Mayor Eng. Mohammad Younus Nawandish, leadership body of MCIT, and representatives of mass media.

Welcoming the participants, H. E. Amirzai Sangin mentioned the importance of the address system and its need in the capital city of the country.

H. E. Sangin speculated that the aim of this agreement is establishing of a system to address all parts of the city and enumerated the following terms:

  • Coding: creating a numbering system to identify roads gates.
  • Mapping: creating a GIS Maps for roads and billboards.
  • Billboards: installing of guide plates.
  • Marking: installing the numbers on gates.
  • GPS: during the survey and marking a GIS Technical Team will collect coordinates for GPS of the locations.
  • Address catalog: computerizing address list (catalog) based on collected data to be reference point for government departments and proprietors.

Then Kabul Mayor also expressed his pleasure and stressed on the implementation of this agreement. He also mentioned that the ministry of Information and Culture helps us in this project.
