MCIT-Polls about the Implementation of Digital TV System

Acting and Deputy Technical Minister of MCIT Eng. Baryalay Hassam chaired a polling session on how to implement digital TV system, which was held in presence of representatives from ministry of Culture and Information, Mishrano Jirga  Parliament, TV networks and ACG on December 16th 2014.

 At the beginning Eng. Baryalay Hassam welcoming the participants presented detailed information about the digital system of television. He said using digital system is step towards development in the field of technology and has produced new and revolutionary changes and developments in the field of television broadcasting. MCIT, therefore decided to convert the broadcasting from existing Analog to digital system and enjoy the benefits of this advanced system in Afghanistan. 

He said that: to this end, we held our meeting today to have your ideas and suggestions. And we assure the TV owners that there will not be any manipulation of the media.  Thus, preparatory work has been done and by transparent process of bidding the contract was signed with ACG Company. Broadcasting by this system is already activated in Kabul and will be activated in (Balkh, Hirat, Kandahar, Kundoz and Ningarhar) provinces in two months.

Then head complaints commission of parliament Mr. Zalmai Zabuli, and member of communications of National Council Mr. Urtaq expressed their views about the importance of digital system and called this a valuable step. They said: that the activities of TV Networks should be clear by a proper provision that freedom of expression and press should not be violated.

After that Mr. Khair Mohammad Faizi vice chairman of ATRA and Nqeebullah Sailaab offered presentations around the digital system and Afghan Sat1. And representatives of television networks also presented their questions and suggestions.
