MCIT organized a farewell ceremony for COL Bierden
HE Minister of MCIT Amirzai Sangin today hosted a farewell ceremony for COL Elizabeth Bierden, who has been the Director of the ISAF Telecom Advisory Team (TAT) for the past year. She departs Afghanistan tomorrow for her new assignment with the US Army, and will be based in El Paso Texas. In the meeting, Minister Sangin thanked Ms. Bierden for her bold leadership, and noted that TAT assisted MCIT in achieving numerous important policy objectives, including direct contact with potential American investors who are poised to contribute to the expansion of the Afghan satellite and mobile services markets. COL Bierden commended Minister Sangin for his strategic vision and thanked him for a very successful partnership.
In the farewell meeting, Minister Sangin expressed his good thoughts from his recent visit to the US to participate as a gust in the ceremony of ICF Visionary Award for the year 2012. It is worth mentioning that the ICF Visionary Award for 2007 has been presented to Minister Sangin for having successfully leadership role of the communication sector development in Afghanistan.
Minister Sangin has been treated with a VIP visit to the USA where COL Bierden and her team had facilitated many official meetings with high-ranking officials at the White House, the Pentagon and other important USG institutions.
Also present at the meeting were several members of the TAT, including the Deputy Director John Horn, Chief Gregory Amentt, Larry Wentz and special advisor Oliver Dziggel, as well as the key leaders from MCIT, ATRA and Afghan Post.
