MCIT- Inaugurates Salaam network, Fiber optic and Digital Telephone of 5000 line in Helmand
Minister of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) H. E. Amirzai Sangin leading a delegation visited Helmand province on Sunday September 7th 2014.
In this visit Minister Amirzai Sangin inaugurated three (Afghan Telecom -Salaam Network, Fiber Optic) projects and Afghan Telecom Digital telephone with 5000 lines) in Helmand province.
H. E. Amirzai Sangin attended the meeting along with his board, which was held on this occasion and faced warm welcome by the officials and people of Helmand province.
H. E. Sangin thanked the people and official profiles of Helmand for warm welcoming and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this beautiful city of the country. Minister Sangin comprehensively highlighted the growth of telecommunications and IT over the last decade throughout the country and said: the sector of Communications and IT have basic role and to date it has grown considerably in the past ten years.
He added using of mobile phone is a principle and there are more than 22 million telephone subscribers and over 2.5 billion dollars investments in the filled of Telecommunications and Information Technology in our country and the large number of populations are provided direct and indirect jobs. He said: annually we deliver over 200 million dollars income to the state treasury. He said: Helmand is always being under the attention of MCIT to be provided better IT services, but unfortunately due to security problems this service has not expanded all over the province. Our presence today in the historic city is officially to inaugurate and put in operation major (Afghan Telecom Salaam, Digital telephone with 5000 lines and Fiber Optic) projects. He said with the opening of these projects the citizens of Helmand will have access to better IT and Internet services with reasonable price. He also mentioned that Afghan Telecom has invested 65 million dollars for Salaam 3G network.
H. E. Amirzai Sangin also mentioned that Fiber Optic connects the provinces together and Afghanistan to the world, today we are witness connection of Helmand Province to Fiber Optic through which people will have access to international ICT networks.
It is worth saying that the Governor of Helmand Mr. Mohammad Naeem, Nasima Niazai Member of Parliament, local dignitaries of the province appreciated successes of MCIT and also suggested their problems and proposed the demands of the people, which were accepted by the Minister of MCIT.
