MCIT- Connects Parwaan University with OFC and opens Digital Telephone in Charikar City

Acting and Deputy technical Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Eng. Baryalay Hassam aiming to open connection of Parwaan University to National Fiber Optic Network (OFC) and launch digital telephone with 2500 lines visited Parwaan province on Monday 29th December 2014.

Eng. Hassam and his companion panel were warmly welcomed by the official authorities and people of Parwaan Province.

Eng. Hassam first thanked the people and official profiles of Parwaan for warm welcoming and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this beautiful city of Afghanistan.

He said: that the communications and information technology is one of the requirements and needs of people in all areas of modern life and it plays a critical role in growth of other sectors that cannot be ignored.
He added: that over the past ten years MCIT has hugely tried to develop ICT in the country and we are witness of significant development in this field today. Delivering communications and IT services to training and educations institutions is the result of collaboration with Education and Higher Education Ministries.

He also said: that the two projects (digital telephone with 2500 lines and connection of Parwan University to Fiber Optic) will provide more facilities and affordable price and better quality telephone and internet services to the people, government and non-government institutions of this Province.

After that, Mr. Mohammad Usman Babury  acting Minister higher Education  expressed his gratitude and appreciated efforts of MCIT and said that in this stage including Parwan University, eight (Herat, Kabul Polytechnic, Samangan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Jawzjan and Faryab) Universities of the country have  already connected to the Fiber Optic,and ine other Universities of the country will be connected soon, which is outstanding achievement.for both Ministries.

Then governor of Parwaan Mr. Mohammad Baseer Salangi, head of provincial council Ghulam Bahaudin Jailani and member of the Parliament Saameyeh Azizi Sadaat also expressed their satisfaction and praised the efforts and achievements of MCIT.

It is noteworthy that the project of 2500 lined digital phone of Charikar city costs 985,840 US dollars and the project connecting Parwaan University to Fiber Optic costs 30 million AF funded by MCIT’s development fund (TDF).

its mentionable that Afghanistan Research and Education Network was first inaugurated in 2010 by Ministry of Higher Education and the purpose of the project was to start an educational research center for all universities in Afghanistan.  by observing the importance of the project and need of technical support MoHE signed a memorandum of understanding MoU with MCIT in 2012 in order back the project strongly and since all universities of Afghanistan was targeted to be connected with fiber optic with technical support of MCIT and the project was further divided into three phases. Phase zero, phase one, phase two. Phase zero was inaugurated in 2013, phase one was inaugurated late 2014 and phase two is under process and it would be inaugurated very soon.
