Digital Silk Road, a new initiative to strengthen regional cooperation

Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Mr. Abdu Razaq Vahidi heading a high level delegation at invitation of Turkmenistan visited Turkmenistan aiming to participate the 9th International Conference on communication and Information technology held on Sunday 15 September 2015.

Minister of MCIT Mr. Vahidi attended the night banquet, which was held in honor of Afghan delegation by deputy minister of Communication of Turkmenistan. Mr. Vahidi briefed significant ICT development in Afghanistan. Also he spoke about the constructive role of ICT in integration and regional connectivity and strategic role of Afghanistan. Speaking about the digital Silk Road minister of MCIT urged regional countries to cooperate for achieving this common goal. The counterpart of Afghan delegation thanked for participating the ninth ICT Conference and Exhibition and called for mutual cooperation.

On 16 September, Mr. Abdu Razzaq Vahid1 and his Afghan delegation attended the inaugurating ceremony of Ninth Communication and IT Exhibition and Conference and presented his speech entitled Digital Silk Road through Afghanistan.

Briefing the conference about the achievements of Afghanistan in the field of ICT minister Vahidi focused on new era of regional cooperation in the field of transport and communication.

On the sideline of the Conference, aiming at creation and coordination in line with Afghanistan’s Optic Fiber and internet connection to Central and South Asian countries minister Vahidi and his companying delegation met with representatives of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. 

On 16 September, afghan delegation met with representatives of (ROSE TELECOM)  ) companies and shared views around various issues including building Internet capacity and connection Afghanistan to Russian Federation through Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
