Afghan Telecom Corporation was established in April 2006 by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology - MCIT, Government of Afghanistan to provide unified telecommunications services. Afghan Telecom Corporation aims to provide superior connectivity solutions to the people of Afghanistan. Depending on our Customer’s needs, some can choose from Digital Fixed Lines, CDMA Mobile Phones, EPABX, Wireless, DSL and Dial-up Internet Services, WiMax and Microwave solutions, Pay Phone services (in Herat and Kabul) and Optical Fiber Cable available to large national and international carriers. Today, Afghan Telecom has coverage in more than 200 cities, towns and districts of Afghanistan which gives it the largest Network coverage.

Afghan Telecom (Aftel) has made the communication possible through the District and Village Communications Network DCN/VCN, VSAT, CDMA and Digital Fixed Lines infrastructures. Afghan Telecom provides Domestic Private Leased Circuit (DPLC) and International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) through Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) with a national OFC backbone ring network covering 3100 Km. Afghan Telecom OFC is implemented and extended throughout Afghanistan and connected to any part of the world through its international connectivity via Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Pakistan.

OFC will revolutionize telecommunication services in Afghanistan, bringing high speed and high capacity voice, Internet, and video services to cover all parts of Afghanistan.

Apart from the above, Aftel is the only entity that provides Government Communications Network (GCN) which connects over 40 ministries and government offices in Kabul with 34 Provincial Governor’s offices, providing voice, Internet, Data services and Video Conferencing, helping the Government officials to be in touch 24 hours a day.

Vision: To emerge as the leading telecom operator in the country and to provide telecommunication services and be updated with the latest advancements in the field of telecommunications for the people of Afghanistan.

Mission: To make it possible for every Afghan to continuously benefit from the latest telecommunication services at affordable prices.

Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project covering 3100km ring connecting Afghanistan to other neighboring countries has successfully been under implementation. This network will bring Afghanistan into the league of the most developed nations, as individuals, Government offices, Business customers and NGO’s will be able to send and receive data at speeds, capacity and low cost like never before.

Afghan Telecom is a pioneer in new and successful implementation of the latest telecommunication advancements and thereby, providing the widest variety of services in Afghanistan, where no other telecommunication company can come anywhere close to Afghan Telecom price range.
