MCIT Inaugurates Salaam GSM-3G in Kandahar province

Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) H. E. Amirzai Sangin aiming to inaugurate Afghan Telecom Salaam Network and initiate digital telephone visited Kandahar province on Tuesday 18th February 2014.

H. E. Amirzai Sangin and his companion panel were warmly welcomed by the governor Mr. Toorialay Wesaa and people of Kandahar Province.

the governor of Kandahar Province expressing his pleasure, appreciated efforts of MCIT in developing telecommunication sector and IT in Afghanistan and said it is the place of pleasure to be witness of operation enhancement of internet and communication services in our province, without doubt these projects are very important for the people of Kandahar and it will cause vital positive changes in the life of the population.   

Toorialay Wesaa said we had more problems regarding telephone connectivity and fortunately, now these projects will provide facilities for the people and local government administrations.

Then H. E. Sangin thanked the people and official profiles of Kandahar for warm welcoming and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this historic city of Afghanistan. Minister Sangin briefly highlighted the growth of telecommunications and IT throughout the country and said: the sector of Communications and IT have basic role and to date it has grown considerably in the past ten years. He added there are more than 20 million telephone subscribers and over two and a half billion dollars investments in the filled of Telecommunications and Information Technology in our country and the large number of populations are provided direct and indirect jobs. He said: annually we deliver over 200 million dollars income to the state treasury. He said: our presence today in the historic city of Kandahar is officially to inaugurate and put in operation major (Afghan Telecom Salaam, Digital telephone in Aeeno meena of Kandahar) projects.  He said with the opening of these projects the citizens of Kandahar will have access to better IT and Internet services with reasonable price. He also mentioned that Afghan Telecom has invested 65 million dollars for Salaam 3G network.

Then the head of provincial council Haji Nasrullah, chamber of commerce and deputy (scientific) of Kandahar University spoke in their turn appreciated successes of MCIT respectively.
