Shahzad Aryobee, Minister of Communications and Information Technology attended the event entitled (AWAL2018) and talked about the achievements, plans and MCIT’s support for the private sector and creativities on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

Shahzad Ariubi said that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has been able to launch ICT infrastructure projects, to develop the laws of information technology, e-government and information security in the past one year and currently are under the review.

He added that the five-year strategy for ICT has been designed which can be called a road map for the implementation of information technology in the country.

 In addition to initiating the process of distributing electronic National ID Cards, creating electric traffic system, simplifying and improving public services, such as launching of passports online, work licenses for domestic and foreign citizens, the improvement of human resources, financial and administrative processes in government institutions and etc. is one of the major activities of the Ministry.

Further He said: that, in order to eliminate dependence on the other countries Internet and to effectively use the strategic location of Afghanistan, regional interconnection projects (including the Wakhan Fiber Optic project, the survey of which is completed by both parties) have been launched, and its financial proposal has been handed over to China.

It should be noted that in the expansion of the Afghan Fiber Optic Network and supporting the private sector, the Ministry of Communications has developed an open access policy allows the private sector to invest in fiber optic networks.
