Acting Minister of Communications and IT Meets Civil Society Representatives:

Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Fahim Hashimi met with a number of civil society representatives on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

In this meeting, civil society representatives praising the Ministry of Communications and IT for lowering the internet service prices of Afghan Telecom and Salam networks added that other private telecommunication companies should take similar steps, otherwise they should make clear the reasons of high prices.

At the meeting, Sami Sultani, vice chairman of the National Thinking Organization said:  "If private telecommunication companies do not reduce their internet prices like the government ones, we will continue our protests against them.

The head of the Balka Foundation also appreciated the recent efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology adding: “in accordance with its responsibilities, ATRA Office should try to encourage the private telecommunication companies to reduce their Internet prices, in the case of failure to meet the people’s demand, their working license must be blocked.

Speaking on the occasion, acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Fahim Hashimi thanked the representatives of civil society, adding: "We are trying to reduce the Internet prices in our country.

He stated that  based on the constant demand of the people we have set a fixed time for all private telecommunication companies to reduce their internet service prices.
