Ministry of communications & Information Technology Announces new Internet Prices

Internet new price has been announced by Ministry of communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in a press conference held on Sunday January 19/ 2014 at MCIT’s conference hall.

At the beginning Minister of MCIT H. E. Amirzai Sangin expressed his satisfaction for reduction in internet rate, saying: it is the matter of pleasure that MCIT announces reduction of internet prices, which is another step towards progress and development in the field of telecommunications and IT in the country. He added: that providing better and advanced IT service to the people with affordable rate is one of the goals of MCIT. We have had a lot of efforts in this area and this tangible reduction in rate of internet is its clear result.

H. E. said: we provide reasonable and cheap internet services through two ways; one through 3G services, which covers 16 provinces of the country and via Fiber Optic service; which is completed in Northern provinces and its work is ongoing in southern provinces. He said another progressive efforts are also on going in the field of IT and that is the GSM and 3G of Afghan Telecom and we will open it sooner, and it will further reduce the internet prices.

Amirzai Sangin noted: that the mountainous feature of Afghanistan and its landlocked position are the problems, which hinder us to extend the internet service throughout the country. 

1.     The prices of Afghan Telecom bandwidth for internet service provider companies are 30 percent reduced; as:

                      Price of 155 (STM-1) reduced from 20000$ to 14000$.

2.     The prices of Afghan Telecom DSL service are 20 percent reduced as follows:

         256 Kbps from 1250 AFS reduced to 1000 AFS

         512 Kbps from 2500 AFS reduced to 2000 AFS

        1MB from 5000 AFS reduced to 4000 AFS

        2MB from 10000 AFS reduced to 8000 AFS

It is mentionable that the Afghan Telecom’s new rate is effective from 1st February 2014.
