MCIT Inaugurates Salaam GSM/ 3G Network in Takhar province

Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) H. E. Amirzai Sangin aiming to inaugurate Afghan Telecom Salaam Network and initiate digital telephone with 5000 lines visited Takhar province on Saturday 18th August 2014.

H. E. Amirzai Sangin and his companion panel were warmly welcomed by the provincial profiles, national elders and people of the Province.

H. E. Sangin thanked the people and official authorities of Takhar for warm welcoming and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this beautiful city of Afghanistan. Minister Sangin briefly highlighted the growth of telecommunications and IT throughout the country and said: the sector of Communications and IT have basic role and to date it has grown considerably in the past ten years.

He added that the Takhar province has been to the close attention of MCIT to be provided better ICT service and the consequences are tangible, 90% population of the province are under the coverage of IT and people practically enjoy its benefits. He added, today we are here to inaugurate three new projects, which will provide more facilities and qualified services. H. E. Sangin stated that Salaam Network is government owned provider of Afghan Telecom Company along with providing reasonable service, aims according to the law MCIT cannot directly intervene to determine and rate the price in the market, but through the competition we can improve the quality of service and decrease the prices. He also mentioned that Afghan Telecom has invested 65 million dollars for Salaam 3G network. In terms of Optical Fiber Network H. E. Amirzai Sangin said that this projects connects the province together and Afghanistan to the world. He stated today we are witness connection of Takhar Province to Fiber Optic through which people will have access to international ICT networks. 

Then the local authorities, members of provincial council and dignitaries of Takhar province appreciated successes of MCIT and expressed their satisfactions.
