Mohammad Fahim Hashimi: Internet prices should be reduced

Mohammed Fahim Hashimi acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology met with deputy technical director of Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA) Eng. Naqibullah Sailab and representatives of private telecom companies on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.  

During the meeting minister Hashimi emphasized on reducing the internet prices in the country.

Given the direction of the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, minister of MCIT said that telecommunications companies should take serious action to provide context for delivering cheap internet services.

According to him, Afghan Telecom lowers internet prices by 20-30% and other companies should endeavor to provide inexpensive and quality internet at the same time.

At the meeting, representatives of telecommunications companies stated: that the security concerns and challenges, especially in insecure areas, are one of the main problems in reducing internet rates in the country.

Following the direction of the president they pledged to reduce the rate of internet services, even with existing of the challenges.
