Meeting with ATRA, Afghan Telecom and Internet service provider officials

Mohammad Fahim Hashimi acting minister of Communications and Information Technology had a meeting with Internet service providers, officials from the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA) and Afghan Telecom Company on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

The meeting mainly focused over reducing Internet prices and improving quality of the service.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology while acknowledging the investment of companies in this sector, called on companies, the ATRA and the Afghan Telecom Corporation for full cooperation in this aspect.

Minister Hashimi noted that the Internet services market should be balanced and carefully studied in order to decrease the cost of Internet services, improve the quality of services, and meanwhile, the providers not to suffer as well.

Internet service providers, officials from the ATRA Office and Afghan Telecom also undertook to discuss the price reductions in the next session.

In addition to the price reduction, they committed, considering the international and domestic laws and procedures will provide conducive environment for balanced market growth.
